Started a demonstration experiment on "Yamabir" extermination with a hot water high pressure washer with Karcher Japan and Nihon University.Efforts to protect the environment using a hot water high pressure washer

In this demonstration experiment, we decided to create a new human-friendly extermination method using hot water that does not use chemicals to exterminate Yamabir, which inhabits various parts of Japan south of Tohoku and has a problem of damage in some prefectures. I will aim. Yamabir is generally killed by leechicides and salt, but it is also said to be killed by hot water. Therefore, we will investigate the effect of hot water on removing Yamabir using a hot water high pressure washer and a dedicated nozzle. In this demonstration experiment, we will collaborate with Mr. Hirose and Mr. Koyama of Nihon University School of Pharmacy to verify the effect. [About Yamabir] Yamabir is a land-dwelling leech that lives in various parts of Japan south of Tohoku, and is the only terrestrial leech in mainland Japan as a blood-sucking leech. Originally, Yamabir lives in the mountains, but in recent years, due to changes in the natural environment such as global warming, deer and wild boar, which are blood-sucking sources, have expanded their habitat and have become carriers of Yamabir. It is one of the factors that leads to the further spread of blood-sucking damage to humans. As for the effects on humans, urticaria and fever due to bacterial infection may occur from the wound, and in some areas, cases of allergies due to repeated blood sucking have been reported. [Effect verification] In this verification experiment, it is possible to use the Karcher hot water high pressure washer "HDS 4/7 U" to discharge high temperature water that kills Yamabir to the surface and ground, and its temperature effect. We verified the conditions of the implementation method. In the future, we will use the Karcher hot water high pressure washer "HDS 4/7 U" and weeding accessories that can be used in various ranges and applications, along with verification of the mortality conditions (adults and eggs) of Yamabir, after the spring of 2022. We are planning to proceed with implementation verification at public natural parks. [Kärcher Japan Environmental Conservation Initiatives] -Comments from President Marc Vann Ingelgem-Kärcher is promoting efforts to solve social issues from its main business of "cleaning". Last year, we conducted a demonstration experiment on the control of a specific exotic species, Mikania micrant, using Karcher's hot water weeding system. This time, we will exterminate Yamabir, which is expanding its habitat as the environment changes. In addition to strong itching and effects on the skin, cases of allergies caused by sucking blood several times have been reported, but removal is not easy and there are no safe measures. Karcher Japan has started a demonstration experiment with Mr. Hirose and Mr. Koyama of Nihon University School of Pharmacy in order to develop a method for exterminating Yamabir that is friendly to both the environment and people. Karcher Japan will continue to aim to realize efforts to solve social issues from the perspective of cleaning. [Inquiries about business products] Karcher Japan Co., Ltd.
