サービスロボット業界で掃除ロボット市場が立ち上がり始めた。すでにおなじみの一般家庭向けではない。業務用の掃除ロボットである。2018年11月に行われた「ビルメンヒューマンフェア&クリーンEXPO 2019」では多くの業務用掃除ロボットが出展され、ついに自動化への分水嶺（れい）を越えたように思えたが、2019年度に入り、さらに掃除ロボット活用を加速する動きが現れた。ソフトバンクロボティクスは2019年4月10日、業務用掃除ロボット「Whiz」を5月から本格的に販売開始し、1カ月間無料で活用できるキャンペーンを行うと発表した。上限は3,000施設まで。7社とアライアンスを組み、「Whiz」活用を促進する。

サービスロボットの本格活用には低くない壁があるが、物流の次に本格活用が始まる業界は、どうやら「掃除」ということになりそうだ。ビルメンテナンス事業の市場規模は3兆円強。清掃管理業務だけ見ても1.2兆円以上あるという。掃除ロボットは、アイロボット「ルンバ」に代表される家庭用では、すでにそれなりの存在感を持っている。だが土足で歩き回るフロアを掃除する業務用途で使おうとした場合には、清掃パワーはもちろん、実用的な速度と清掃精度が必要になる。清掃ロボットはあるにはあったが、従来はここがハードルになっていた。だが、各種センサーや、自己位置同定と地図製作を同時に行うSLAM技術など、ロボットの自律移動を支える各技術の進歩によって、十分に実用的な速度で、止まることのない清掃が可能になり始めた。一言でいえば、足回りが整い、それなりにちゃんと動けるようになったのである。その移動能力を生かせるアプリケーションの一つが、「掃除」というわけだ。そして、昨年2018年11月に行われた「ビルメンヒューマンフェア&クリーンEXPO 2019」では数多くの業務用掃除ロボットが出展された。ロボットの使い方においても、すべてをロボット任せにするのではなく、人間の作業者との作業の住み分けをきちんと行うことによって、トータルとしての作業速度を向上させるという考え方が普及しつつあるようだ。というわけで、ロボットが最も得意とする空港のような大面積を対象にしたところから清掃ロボット活用が始まっている。遠くない将来、駅やショッピングモールで見かけるスクラバーを使って行っている掃除の役割は、ロボットが担うことになるだろう。湿式スクラバーによる床清掃だけではなく、ビル屋内のオフィス、カーペット敷きのフロアでのバキューム式掃除ロボットの活用も始まっている。三井不動産とパナソニックが共同でdevelopmentして2018年7月から受注している「RULO Pro（ルーロプロ）」、そしてソフトバンクロボティクスが2018年11月に発表した「Whiz（ウィズ）」がライバル製品だ。「Whiz」のほうは発表されてすぐ、三菱地所が100台導入すると発表したことでも話題になった。そちらについては以前、本連載でも触れている。関連記事両者は、使い方・想定運用形態もよく似ている。清掃ルートを一度人間が手押しで設定してティーチングし、そのルートを自動で掃除するのだが、使用時にも完全自動で無人で動かすのではない。清掃業者が扱う自動ツールの一種としてのロボットである。清掃用具は普段は清掃用具入れに収納されている。このロボットも同じように清掃時に保管場所から出してきてセッティングし、人間の作業者と作業を分担して清掃を行う。ビル内の共用部分、特に、廊下などのように広く、ロボットが得意な領域をロボットにやらせているあいだに、人間が障害物が多かったり汚れているところをスポット清掃するなどして省力化する。作業の分担は省力化の基本である。ただしティーチングは容易で、最初に教えてもらえれば誰でもルート設定ができる。レイアウト変更にもある程度なら対応するし、障害物は回避する。要するに、一部分であれば任すことができる賢いツールとしての掃除ロボットである。ソフトバンクロボティクス「Whiz」については後述するので、パナソニック「Rulo Pro」について、もう少し付け加えておく。「Rulo Pro」は250平方メートルを75分間くらいで掃除できるロボットだ。パナソニックの電動アシスト自転車に使われているバッテリーを流用しており、簡単に取り外しができる。ゴミ捨ても紙パック式となっている。一方、ソフトバンクの「Whiz」は1時間に500平方メートル清掃可能だとされている。「Rulo Pro」のほうが掃除時間はかかるが、特徴はサイドブラシとセンサーを使って壁際や隅まできれいに掃除できるところだとされている。どちらを取るかはユーザーの判断次第だろう。なおパナソニックではより小型のモデルや、より大型の業務用掃除機もdevelopment中だという。【次ページ】ソフトバンクが2019年を「AIクリーン元年」にするかもしれないRecommended article
