Mitsubishi Electric dissolves Kyoto Factory, withdraws from commercial printers and terminates in-house production of indoor video products

Mitsubishi Electric announced on March 1, 2022 that it will end its business printer business at the end of March of the same year, and that it will also end in-house production of indoor video multi-systems. At the same time, the Kyoto Factory, which was the production base for these products, will be dissolved, and from April 1, 2022, the Living Digital Media Business Department and the Home Appliance Imaging Business Department will be reorganized into the Kyoto area resident department. Mitsubishi Electric Kyoto Works was established in 1962 as a parts factory for Mitsubishi Electric's televisions, and since then has been the core base for the development and manufacturing of video equipment such as televisions. However, in the midst of the trend toward commoditization of digital home appliances, in December 2013 the company announced that it would withdraw from the business of projectors and Blu-ray/DVD recorders for general consumers. Furthermore, in November 2021, it announced the end of the LCD TV business. This time, we will proceed with the restructuring of the Kyoto Works and terminate the business of the commercial printers handled by the Kyoto Works. In addition, we will terminate the in-house production of indoor video multi-systems such as indoor LED-DLP projector systems, indoor liquid crystal multi-display devices, and indoor LED display devices. Related management resources will be shifted to other businesses. As a result of these movements, most of the product groups that should have been produced by Kyoto Seisakusho disappeared, so the role as a factory was dissolved. As of April 1, 2022, in addition to establishing a resident department in charge of the management of the Kyoto area in the living and digital media business department, we will also establish a resident department in the Kyoto area of the home appliance image business department in charge of after-sales service for home appliances. . ≫ Back number of "Factory News"
